ASICS Men’s Lift Trainer Cross-Trainer Review

Before you hit the gym for some heavy-lifting you need to have the right pair of shoes for your workout. Weightlifting shoes are designed differently from ordinary workout shoes in that they don’t require as much cushioning or shock absorption. They need to durable and provide stability to allow you to power through your workout. We took a look at some popular choices among strength trainers and chose to review the ASICS Men’s Lift Trainer Cross-Trainer shoe.

ASICS Men’s Lift Trainer Cross-Trainer Review

These appear to be a fairly popular choice among weight-lifters with very positive ratings so we chose to review them based on our standards to find out just how well they actually perform.

The shoes are composed with synthetic leather and breathable mesh upper. It has a rugged rubber sole and a slightly cushioned interior sole that is removable to allow for orthotic inserts. They are non compressible, with a flexible forefoot for cross-training. They also feature a mid-foot support Velcro strap in addition to a lace closure for added stability and a padded collar.

These cross-training shoes are designed with weight lifters in mind to offer an ideal shoe for strength training workouts. These have a raised heel to provide flexibility and add desirable depth during squats while helping you maintain stability. Important factors to look for in a suitable weight-lifting shoe which are featured in these include mid-foot support straps to ensure a secure fit, durable quality for heavy lifting, and a solid base that allows you to power through dead lifts while providing support for your ankles. The rubber sole on these shoes provide great traction.

We didn’t really find much of anything to complain about with these shoes. They do run a tad large so we recommend trying on a pair first if possible to find the perfect fit or order at least a half size down. It’s not often we are left with little to no negative notes about our products because we review them with great scrutiny, but what can we say; these are very well designed. These are not designed for walking, running, or any other workout, but then again they’re called LIFT trainers for a reason.

What Others Have Said

In order to provide a more thorough review we like to provide opinions from other users based on their experiences with the product. Here’s what others had to say about these ASICS Lift Trainers:

“I’m squatting around 370lbs at the time of this review and I find these to give a very solid base – much more so than Chucks. The product description lists cushioning but that’s only the insole which is very slight – not squishy like a cross trainer & very solid with 300+ lbs on my back.”

“Unlike most weightlifting sports shoes, these Asics are stylish yet functional. The heel is very well supported for squatting and deadlifting. The fabric is breathable and easy to wash..”

“The shoe provides excellent stability plus a breathable upper. You can load the bar and squat as much as your legs desire.”

“The only negative I would say is the color scheme is a bit crazy but I’m getting used to it.”

“I’m an 18 year old girl who OL. At first, I was concerned about the cushioning because running shoes are a big NONO for lifting. However, I was pleasantly surprised by how comfortable yet sturdy these shoes are for my lifts. Great job, asics.”

Our Conclusion

To summarize our ASICS Men’s Lift Trainer Cross-Trainer review, we found these to be ideal weight lifting shoes. These heavy-duty quality shoes are perfect for lifts, providing sufficient stability during squats and still flexible enough for cross-fit trainers. More importantly, these offer quite a comfortable fit to help really maximize your workout. These are also modestly priced compared to other shoes.
