Proform 14.0 CE Elliptical Review

If you’re looking into getting a quality elliptical trainer for your home gym there are many factors to take into consideration towards your purchase. You may be familiar with the brand Proform. This is because Proform, along with NordicTrack and Reebok are manufactured by Icon Health and Fitness, a leading company in producing elliptical trainers with quality and value. We put these to the test based on our standards, which brings us to our Proform 14.0 CE Elliptical review.

Proform 14.0

Specifications
The Proform 14.0 CE elliptical is a rear-drive system with 14 levels of digital resistance. It has an 18” adjustable stride length, power adjustable incline, workout arms, EKG heart rate monitor, a 5” backlit display and a SpaceSaver design that folds up. It has a maximum weight capacity of 300lbs. The elliptical is constructed of commercial-grade steel and comes with a lifetime warranty on the frame, one year on the parts and labor.

Pros
This elliptical has many nice features to offer including iFit compatibility to manage your fitness goals wirelessly and features Google maps. The Proform 14.0 comes equipped 18 built-in workouts and a power adjustable incline which you can change from 10 to 25 degrees at the push of a button rather than manually. It has a very solid construction with a sturdy feel to it when you’re working out.

Proform SpacesaverProform SpacesaverProform SpacesaverIt also has a silent magnetic resistance system so it performs quietly, which allows you to hear your music more clearly from the built-in sound system. You get a nice comfortable workout with the oversized cushioned foot pedals and the soft grips on the workout arms. The fold-up SpaceSaver design and transport wheels make it easy to move out of the way when not in use.

Cons
Just as with similar models that offer this feature, the iFit compatibility is only useful if you purchase the wireless adapter separately, which runs for about $89-$100. Additionally, you have to pay a monthly membership fee to use iFit Live. The fan is not even worth mentioning, although this is a common flaw among many types of fitness equipment so it isn’t a complete disappointment.

What Others Have Said

We like to be as thorough as possible when looking at products so we’ve included feedback from others in our Proform 14.0 CE elliptical review. Here is what some actual owners had to say based on their experience with this elliptical trainer:

The Good

“It is sturdy and feels like one that you use at one of the major gyms.”

“I have had absolutely no problems with it so I have to give it an A+ for durability.”

“For the price this is great, easy to assemble (all parts present and easily identified), instructions well done.”

The Bad

“Maybe it’s me, but the stride doesn’t seem to be as advertised. Without thinking, I’ll find my feet half off the back of the pedals.”

“The mechanism developed a clunky sound after a few weeks of use and it sometimes is really bothersome.”

“LCD Display / Controls – are a bit confusing and took a while to get, I don’t like how it resets what you are doing in the middle of a workout if you hit the wrong button.”

Our Final Thoughts

To conclude, this Proform 14.0 CE elliptical is well-made and offers a very reasonable value for the price and quality. It delivers smooth performance and comes equipped with many features, although not all of them are practical. The bottom line is it serves its purpose well and offers convenience in terms of function. In our opinion, this would be a suitable choice for the average home-gym user to meet their fitness goals.
